Here's how it works:
1. Connect with a Better Health team member for an initial evaluation.
2. Receive the VR CBT Device in the mail, just like any other medical device.
3. Follow easy, step-by-step therapy programs for your therapy.

Virtual reality (VR) CBT therapy is a device designed to help you manage pain, stress, anxiety, and more—right from home. No apps, no setup, no clinic visits required.
VR CBT Therapy includes structured, evidence-based programs for:

All programs are clinically developed and preloaded onto your headset, ready to use.
VR CBT Therapy is designed for people who want to manage physical or emotional symptoms from home—including older adults, those recovering from surgery, or anyone struggling with pain, stress, or mobility. If you’re unsure if VR CBT Therapy is a fit, our care team can help assess your eligibility.
Once you’re approved, we ship your VR CBT Therapy device directly to your home. You’ll start with introductory VR CBT programs preloaded onto the headset—so you can get familiar with the experience and begin exploring at your own pace.
If you have insurance:
Medicare Part B: Often covers the full cost of treatment, and many patients have little to no out-of-pocket expense. Some may have a small copay depending on their secondary insurance.
Medicare Advantage commercial insurance (e.g., BCBS Medicare Advantage, Aetna Medicare Advantage, etc.): Coverage varies by plan, but we’re happy to verify your benefits and let you know exactly what’s covered and what your responsibility (if any) would be.
Yes. VR CBT Therapy is typically covered under Medicare Part B as Durable Medical Equipment (DME), using CMS Code E1905. Once approved, the device is shipped to your home and your device and therapy is covered by Medicare DME benefits—aside from your usual deductible or copay.
We’ll help verify your coverage as part of the onboarding process.
Yes, absolutely—you can do this treatment alongside in-person care! We would need to focus on something different from what you're actively working on in-person so there is no overlap with insurance billing. This might include:
Targeting a secondary condition (e.g., balance, posture, or stress management)
Addressing pain relief or mobility in a different area
Working on mental health or mindfulness support alongside physical rehab
A physician prescription is required to start treatment with VR CBT Therapy. We will make sure to help you co-ordinate with your provider to retrieve the prescription.
You’ll be provided with a headset that is specifically programmed for VR CBT therapy. Personal devices cannot be used for treatment, as the therapy software is only available on the headset provided by our team.
No clinic visits are required. VR CBT Therapy is designed for at-home use, with all care delivered remotely. Once you're matched with a coachlicensed clinician, your sessions and progress tracking happen virtually—no travel, no waiting rooms, just expert support from the comfort of your home.
