As a patient, you have certain rights. Some are guaranteed by federal law, such as the right to informed consent. This means your doctor needs to give you the information to make a decision if you need treatment like ostomy surgery.

The Bill of Rights ofThe Ostomy and Continent Diversion Patients Bill of Rights is a tool created by the United Ostomy Association of America, Inc. to help patients empower themselves to care for their own needs and improve outcomes. It is designed to empower those living with an ostomy (temporary or permanent) or continent diversion.
