What is VR Mental Health ?
VR Mental Health is a virtual reality (VR) therapy solution designed to support your emotional well-being from the comfort of your home. Whether you're dealing with general or social anxiety, seeking to improve focus with ADHD, or practicing mindfulness to reduce daily stress—this clinically guided system helps you build healthier mental habits.
Delivered through a preloaded, easy-to-use VR headset classified as Durable Medical Equipment (DME) by Medicare, the experience includes evidence-based CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) programs developed by licensed therapists.
No apps, no setup, no clinic visits—just put on the headset and begin your journey toward greater calm and clarity.
Who is this for?
VR Mental Health is designed for people who want to manage emotional or cognitive symptoms from home including older adults or anyone dealing with anxiety, stress, attention difficulties, or emotional challenges. If you’re unsure whether VR Mental Health is right for you, our care team can help assess your eligibility.
What happens after I receive the headset?
Once your registration is approved, we’ll ship your VR device directly to your home. It comes preloaded with introductory CBT-based programs to help you ease into the experience and start at your own pace.Next, you’ll be matched with a licensed clinician who will create a personalized treatment plan, unlock more content, and guide your progress. You’ll have a virtual session with a mental health professional, physical therapist, or occupational therapist—based on your specific needs.
They’ll assess your condition, symptoms, and goals, then build a therapy plan just for you.
From there, you’ll use the VR headset to complete interactive sessions from the comfort of your home.
You’ll continue meeting with your clinician online to track progress, make adjustments, and stay motivated.
You’re never alone—we’ll be with you every step of the way.
How much does treatment cost?
Co-pays, co-insurance and deductibles vary depending on your plan’s benefits. We deal with your insurance provider directly, so you can focus on your recovery. If your health insurance plan does not cover VR Mental Health, you can pay out-of-pocket for the service.
Is VR Mental Health covered by Medicare?
In many cases, VR Therapy services are covered by Medicare and other major insurance providers. Coverage depends on your plan and location. Our team will help you verify your benefits before starting treatment.
Can I do this if I’m already seeing someone in person?
Yes. VR Mental Health can complement in-person care by enhancing your treatment with guided virtual sessions at home. We’re happy to coordinate with your current provider to support your overall progress.
Do I need a referral or prescription from my doctor?
In most cases, a physician referral or order is not required to start treatment with XR Therapy. We will make sure to let you know if otherwise. However, having an order from your doctor will help our clinical team to make sure we provide you with the best care.
Can I use my own headset for treatment?
A patient typically receives a VR Mental Health Kit (on loan), which includes a preloaded headset and hand controllers personalized by your mental health provider.
If you already own a compatible headset (like a Pico Neo), your clinician can remotely load it with your prescribed VR mental wellness programs.
Do I need to visit a clinic?
No. VR Mental Health is designed to be done entirely from home. You’ll receive a headset and meet with a licensed clinician online no clinic visits required.
